The Spring Jacket

As temperatures have been soaring the past few weeks, working in Oasis on Saturday when outside it was Spain temperatures was not fun to say the least.. but what was even worse, was I felt I didn’t have the appropriate spring jacket to go with my work outfit. Most of my jackets are far too thick for this emerging 19 degree weather and this is where I have become the hunt for the perfect spring jacket piece. So the time has become where I have to shred my huge furs, for a light wear able piece that I can wear throughout the emerging season.  From cropped, brocade blazers and must have macs to lightweight trenches – come spring/rain the jackets will hopefully get me through. Here’s some of my personal favourites.

The New It Colour...Yellow

Just because it is technically still winter, and judging by the temperature outside where I am, I get get my legs out yet, but it doesn’t mean we can’t start rocking spring trends. So make a statement like the A-list and introduce a touch of the new season right now by slipping a yellow highlight into your look. While the stars aren’t quite ready for head-to-toe bold colour just yet, they’re slowly letting the spring sunshine peek through by injecting seasonal shades alongside neutral and items. There is of course always an exception, so the more adventurous and directional dressers among us should take inspiration from Leigh Lezark and double up on the canary yellow for a real style statement.

Fashion Shoot

This is our theme based: corruption of Innocence. This was a great experience to learn what goes on behind the scenes of a typical fashion shoot but also the styling of the shoot.

Take a look....

PASTEL CRAZE

" Everyday's a Sundae"

Pastel is the in trend at the moment, with most high street stores showcasing this in colour in a range of products. However, if you are looking for a pastel teamed outfit look no further than the high street store OASIS.
I have had the opportunity watching amazing pastel jeans, tops, skirts and jackets come into store from working in the Aberdeen branch, which look absolutely amazing. Customers are going crazy for this trend, and Oasis have listened and provided them with amazing day to night outfits under one roof, even offering complementary pastel accessories.

I have bought a few items and I will show in this blog post what the great pastel looks are teamed with. All items displayed below are available from:
http://www.oasis-stores.com

I absolutely love this colour of jean, the pink is definitely one of my favourite colour of jeans. One of my Oasis Colleagues tried this shirt and jean combination on and it was amazing on her.  Very on trend look, which can be     worn during the day with flats, or glam it up with big heels and a clutch. To be on very trend, add this season's key accessory a statement bow to the shirt.

On trend coloured jeans  perfect teamed with plain sheer blouse for a day to night look.

Loving this combination, Pastel Heaven

Alternative team it with this ultra glam ,   sparkle  top and grab attention!!

Im in love with this coral, beaded dress!  Will be amazing in summer with a golden tan.

On Trend colour and material-lace. Perfect for a night coming up, also for a summer wedding.

Key piece for your spring/summer 12 wardrobe, see through skirt is very in at moment with high street stores such as topshop, miss selfridge and online stores Miss Guided all having this is a staple piece in their collections.

Clash the dress with these hot pink pieces.

From high street to Runway labels, Vivienne Westwood, Jonathon Saunders, Marc Jacobs, Givency and Preen have all showcased the sorbet coloured looks in their spring/summer 12 runway shows proving an instant hit with the critics and also the high street who have adapted this style with affordable prices.

Alternatives on the British High Street
Clockwise from top left: Aqua sequin vest, €60, Warehouse; Colour block denim shorts, €38, River Island; Butterfly print maxidress, €70, Dorothy Perkins; Seafoam drape jacket, €19, Primark; Yellow pleated miniskirt, €45, Dorothy Perkins.

Mint green, pale coral, icecream yellows – the SS12 catwalks were full of the palest of washes. Combine with a white tee or wear pastel with pastel. I hope this blog post has allowed you to embrace the pastel trends and encourage you to go out and buy!!

LFW

"Vodafone London Fashion Weekend is the ultimate shopping destination for all the latest trends. Held at Somerset House from 23rd-26th February 2012, it's the place to shop your wardrobe for the season ahead."

I was down in London last week for the start of London Fashion Weekend, which is a mini showcase of up and coming UK designers. Not only is it set in SummerSet House where most of the LFW catwalks take place, its also a premium designer fashion destination with a heap of labels all there. Designer such as Almost Famous, House of Harlow, Aqua, Elizabeth Lau and House of Lauza all had a place at the event selling their items.

Hosted by Zoe Hardman (the one of take me out the gossip) - the show that im completely in love with, she was all about "celebrating london fashion" and to be fair after another successful LFW its true. We were all there to embrace London Fashion, all the girls that had come down from all over the country with their own unique take on fashion put into one room, all because the love fashion. I'ts a great thing.  Their were two designer catwalk shows, and two themed catwalk shows, which are both up and coming trends for spring/summer 2012.

PRIM ROSE
Providing a much needed antithesis to the bright colour blocking trend, our Miss Prim Rose experiments with dreamy hazy pastels for Spring Summer. Taking inspiration from various designer collections such as Philip Lim 3.1 S/S12,Louis Vuitton S/S12 and Twenty8Twelve S/S12 as shown to the left.
She mixes sorbet shades with white to create a clean, summery palette, keeping silhouettes traditional and of course prim and proper styling. Prim Rose always wears a collar; cute and clipped, and keeps everyone guessing with a fluctuating hemline. Don’t be afraid to match your hues, or rainbow them up to the max. The subtlety of the tone allows experimentation, and when in doubt – add a cardigan and a brooch.

GAME ON

With the Olympics coming to London in the summer the sporting influence is impossible to avoid, so we’ve embraced the notion of sports luxe with aplomb. Taking inspiration from various designer collections such as Isabel Marant S/S12,Felder Felder S/S12 and Alexander Wang S/S12 as shown to the right. IMAGES TAKEN FROM STYLE.COM

Combining techno fabrics with beautiful silks; retro sportsbrand sweaters cropped a la Fame for some Eighties cool and bright red accent pieces, this trend really gives us some old school street style. Think Harlem, think Brooklyn, think Run DMC – but refine and redefine. Take a lead from Richard Nicoll by mixing cashmeres and silk jerseys, and do as Christopher Raeburn did and work a very practical anorak (available in a plethora of colours) into your outfit. Print jackets and leggings are also key; get them clashing gloriously as seen at Peter Pilotto and Basso & Brooke, or matching even to your motorbike helmet as seen across the pond at the Alexander Wang show in NYC. I

I've never been to a catwalk show, and I was extremely excited. The energy when your watching a catwalk show is electric, and i'm not going to lie a lot of us were just wanting to dance away to the music. Their were full collections from Holly Fulton and Antipodium, both of whom recieved high praise for their stunning s/s12 lines. It was a great experience going to the events, and i really hope I get to go back next year with placement hopefully being more involved in the process of it.

back to blogging.

god feels like forever since my last blog post. As my blog was part of my uni coursework, it was a great way for me to investigate how powerful blog fashion has become in the fashion world. Now that London Fashion Week is over, I can see from pictures how bloggers have evolved onto the front rows of the must - see catwalks and how such an influenctial presence they have become. Now I know, blogging wont be my full time job, but i've decided to try to blog as much as possible as i'ts a great way to show off work to future clients. I'm in the process of applying for placements for 6 months next year, which is extremely exciting but daunting aswell. Looks like im facing the 9 til 5 world closer than i think...
hope you enjoyx
